My family left Eritrea 12 months ago after we could no longer live safely. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Arlington. We're a family of eight and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 3 months of rent, and that support ends in October.
I was a farmer in Eritrea, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent).
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Rent deposit and first month: $1,950
• Language classes and bus passes: $300
• Winter clothing and school supplies: $400

The list at the bottom is the whole picture. rent deposit and first month is the biggest at $1,950. Fair thing to want to know.
