A free library and reading room for Union Primary School: help our neighbors in Cali
Volunteers in Cali are raising $450 for a free library and reading room at Union Primary School.
🇨🇴 Cali, Valle del Cauca, Colombia595 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 567 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $450 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $65
• Safety equipment and signage: $60
• Materials: $325
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
