We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a free library and reading room - we need $1,100 for materials.

Buenos Aires

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,100. It will serve about 294 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $1,100 goes: • Materials: $910 • Permits and inspections: $35 • Safety equipment and signage: $105 • Tools hire and delivery: $50 Glad we found this place.

Updates from Marcos

Thank you all. We're at 38% now ($414). I'm honestly stunned. the first invoice got paid this week.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($189 in total) the plan for materials is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely. - Marcos
Update from Buenos Aires: we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. We're at 5% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us. - Marcos

Thinking of you. Looking forward to the next update. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. God bless
