A free library and reading room for the Unity community hall: help our neighbors in Phuket
Volunteers in Phuket are raising $450 for a free library and reading room at the Unity community hall.
🇹🇭 Thailand1,990 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 96 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $85
• Materials: $270
• Safety equipment and signage: $95
Thanks for reading all this.

Shared this with my family. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Phuket.
rooting for you, Busaba. More neighborhoods should do this. Take care
