A free library and reading room for the Unity community hall: help our neighbors in Paris
A community-led a free library and reading room at the Unity community hall that will serve 402 neighbors.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,200.
It will serve about 402 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,200 goes:
• Materials: $1,850
• Tools hire and delivery: $185
• Permits and inspections: $165
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
