A free library and reading room for the Sycamore community hall: help our neighbors in Toulon
Volunteers in Toulon are raising $2,600 for a free library and reading room at the Sycamore community hall.
🇫🇷 Toulon, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France1,917 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,600.
It will serve about 445 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,600 goes:
• Materials: $1,700
• Permits and inspections: $100
• Safety equipment and signage: $360
• Tools hire and delivery: $440
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
