A free library and reading room for the Lotus vacant lot: help our neighbors in Mysuru

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 465 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $300 goes: • Materials: $190 • Permits and inspections: $30 • Safety equipment and signage: $45 • Tools hire and delivery: $35 Thank you so much.
