A free library and reading room for the Freedom vacant lot: help our neighbors in Lucknow

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $85, and the remaining cost is $450. It will serve about 377 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $450 goes: • Materials: $350 • Permits and inspections: $35 • Tools hire and delivery: $65 Thank you so much.
