A free library and reading room for the Freedom community hall: help our neighbors in Shubra
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a free library and reading room - we need $450 for materials.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $120, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 515 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Materials: $370
• Permits and inspections: $20
• Safety equipment and signage: $30
• Tools hire and delivery: $30
