Ikeja
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 372 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $300 goes: • Materials: $150 • Permits and inspections: $50 • Safety equipment and signage: $55 • Tools hire and delivery: $45 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
