A free library and reading room for the Baobab community hall: help our neighbors in Ottawa
Volunteers in Ottawa are raising $2,950 for a free library and reading room at the Baobab community hall.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,950.
It will serve about 199 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,950 goes:
• Materials: $2,200
• Permits and inspections: $360
• Safety equipment and signage: $110
• Tools hire and delivery: $280
