A free library and reading room for Pioneer Primary School: help our neighbors in Saint-Denis

We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a free library and reading room - we need $1,200 for materials.

Saint-Denis
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,200. It will serve about 537 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,200 goes: • Materials: $770 • Permits and inspections: $95 • Safety equipment and signage: $170 • Tools hire and delivery: $165 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Stéphane

Updates from Stéphane

  1. Small update. $199 so far, I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 8% now ($93). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts.
