A free library and reading room for Jacaranda Primary School: help our neighbors in Thiruvananthapuram
Volunteers in Thiruvananthapuram are raising $450 for a free library and reading room at Jacaranda Primary School.
Anywhere in the world960 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Jacaranda Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 438 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $450 goes:
• Materials: $270
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $75
• Tools hire and delivery: $60
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Satish?
Thank you. If you're in Thiruvananthapuram I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. I'll keep the page updated.
You're not alone, Satish. More neighborhoods should do this. All the best.
Hope it all works out, Satish. More neighborhoods should do this. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care
