A free library and reading room for Harmony Primary School: help our neighbors in Mthatha
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a free library and reading room - we need $450 for materials.
🇿🇦 South Africa1,297 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Harmony Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $310, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 195 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $80
• Materials: $310
• Tools hire and delivery: $60
Thank you so much.
