Leyla was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in June. The surgeon at Saint Catherine Hospital recommended a craniotomy, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,500, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $4,400 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Saint Catherine Hospital since June. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Leyla struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Leyla won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
