A craniotomy for Leah: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled a craniotomy in May is out of reach without help covering $2,050 of the cost.

Leah was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in February. The surgeon at Sheffield Regional Medical Center recommended a craniotomy, and She is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,100, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,050 short.
my mother has been in and out of Sheffield Regional Medical Center since February. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,100 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Leah struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Leah won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• Travel and lodging for the family: $130
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $390
• Post-operative medication: $300
• Hospital stay (4 nights): $1,230
Thanks for being kind about this.
