A craniotomy for Juan: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled a craniotomy in November is out of reach without help covering $850 of the cost.

In August I was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections. My surgeon at Medellín General Hospital recommended a craniotomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,200, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $850 short.
Doctors at Medellín General Hospital told me a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without a craniotomy. I work as a warehouse packer, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,200 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a warehouse packer have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $850 goes:
• Travel and lodging for the family: $70
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $670
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $110
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Take care, Juan. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. God bless.
Hope it all works out, Juan. Shared this with my family. I'll check back for the next update. Thinking of Medellín.
so sorry you're going through this, Juan. Wishing Juan a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
Praying for you, Juan. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side
Good luck. Hope this works out for you. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Blessings.
