Grace was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in September. The surgeon at Saint Luke Hospital recommended a craniotomy, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,250, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,350 short. my mother has been in and out of Saint Luke Hospital since September. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,250 is more than we can find. While we wait, Grace struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Grace won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
