A craniotomy for Alessia: covering what insurance won't
After a deviated septum causing chronic infections, Alessia was cleared for a craniotomy, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Alessia was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in August. The surgeon at Venice University Hospital recommended a craniotomy, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,000, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,400 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Venice University Hospital since August. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Alessia struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Alessia won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $2,400 goes:
• Physiotherapy sessions: $500
• Hospital stay (3 nights): $1,600
• Post-operative medication: $300
