A craniotomy for Adeline: covering what insurance won't
Adeline needs a craniotomy at Bakersfield Regional Medical Center and the family is $8,550 short of the hospital's estimate.

Adeline was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in November. The surgeon at Bakersfield Regional Medical Center recommended a craniotomy, and She is scheduled for January. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $11,500, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $8,550 short.
my mother has been in and out of Bakersfield Regional Medical Center since November. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $11,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Adeline struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Adeline won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $8,550 goes:
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $3,750
• Post-operative medication: $230
• Travel and lodging for the family: $260
• Physiotherapy sessions: $680
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,630
