A covered market stall space for the old Unity bus depot: help our neighbors in Catania
Volunteers in Catania are raising $3,300 for a covered market stall space at the old Unity bus depot.
🇮🇹 Italy1,510 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Unity bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $3,300.
It will serve about 492 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,300 goes:
• Materials: $2,500
• Permits and inspections: $150
• Safety equipment and signage: $310
• Tools hire and delivery: $340
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
- Luigi

How is Luigi doing now?
hope it all works out, Luigi. Hope this works out for you.
Is there anything that isn't money that would help Luigi?
Thank you. If you're in Catania I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Appreciate you taking the time.
So sorry you're going through this, Luigi. Shared it with a few friends. After 6 years in social work I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
hope things get better soon, Luigi. Great idea, hope you get there. Greetings from Thiruvananthapuram!
Sending good thoughts, Luigi. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best.
