For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $100, and the remaining cost is $750. It will serve about 477 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $750 goes: • Materials: $570 • Permits and inspections: $65 • Safety equipment and signage: $50 • Tools hire and delivery: $65 I hope life is good to you. - Rekha
