6th of October City
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom community hall, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $550. It will serve about 504 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $550 goes: • Materials: $450 • Permits and inspections: $20 • Safety equipment and signage: $30 • Tools hire and delivery: $50 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Samira
