Los Angeles

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Jacaranda Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $3,900. It will serve about 584 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $3,900 goes: • Materials: $3,050 • Permits and inspections: $250 • Safety equipment and signage: $350 • Tools hire and delivery: $250 Every share and every dollar helps.
