A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in Saskatoon
A community-led a covered market stall space at Union Primary School that will serve 227 neighbors.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $3,450.
It will serve about 227 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,450 goes:
• Materials: $2,650
• Permits and inspections: $300
• Safety equipment and signage: $145
• Tools hire and delivery: $355
