A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in Nairobi
Volunteers in Nairobi are raising $550 for a covered market stall space at the old Cedar bus depot.
🇰🇪 Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya1,160 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Cedar bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 169 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $550 goes:
• Materials: $380
• Permits and inspections: $35
• Safety equipment and signage: $70
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

best of luck. Great idea, hope you get there. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Catania.
