A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in Kadıköy
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a covered market stall space - we need $550 for materials.
🇹🇷 Kadıköy, Istanbul, Türkiye1,095 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 427 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $550 goes:
• Materials: $370
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
• Tools hire and delivery: $115
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
