Volunteers in Jakarta are raising $550 for a community garden at the Unity health centre yard.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $550. It will serve about 173 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $550 goes: • Materials: $450 • Permits and inspections: $35 • Safety equipment and signage: $25 • Tools hire and delivery: $40 Thank you so much.
