A community garden for the old Jacaranda bus depot: help our neighbors in Salvador
Volunteers in Salvador are raising $1,400 for a community garden at the old Jacaranda bus depot.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Jacaranda bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,400.
It will serve about 437 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,400 goes:
• Materials: $1,100
• Permits and inspections: $85
• Safety equipment and signage: $135
• Tools hire and delivery: $80

Update from Salvador: I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. We're at 15% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
Wanted to say thank you properly. 25% funded and the first invoice got paid this week.
Quick update: $630 raised so far (45%). the plan for permits and inspections is now scheduled. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
