A community garden for the Maple vacant lot: help our neighbors in Auckland
Volunteers in Auckland are raising $1,600 for a community garden at the Maple vacant lot.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,600.
It will serve about 475 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.

• Tools hire and delivery: $400
• Permits and inspections: $320
