A community garden for the Jacaranda health centre yard: help our neighbors in Negombo

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $550. It will serve about 528 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $550 goes: • Materials: $380 • Permits and inspections: $55 • Safety equipment and signage: $40 • Tools hire and delivery: $75 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people. - Amaya
