A community garden for Baobab Primary School: help our neighbors in Kasarani
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community garden - we need $450 for materials.
🇰🇪 Kenya792 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Baobab Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 565 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $450 goes:
• Materials: $270
• Permits and inspections: $55
• Safety equipment and signage: $55
• Tools hire and delivery: $70
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

hang in there, Rashidi. Hope this works out for you. After 10 years in farming I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Los Angeles.
you're not alone, Rashidi. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Love from Santarém!
Good luck, Rashidi. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. God bless
