A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Vadodara
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community garden - we need $100 for materials.
Anywhere in the world1,200 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $100.
It will serve about 564 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $100 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $15
• Tools hire and delivery: $55
• Safety equipment and signage: $30
Every share and every dollar helps.
