A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in St. Louis
Volunteers in St. Louis are raising $3,800 for a community garden at Liberty Primary School.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Liberty Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $3,800.
It will serve about 252 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.

• Tools hire and delivery: $610
