A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Odesa
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community garden - we need $700 for materials.
🇺🇦 Odesa, Odesa Oblast, Ukraine1,228 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Harmony bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $700.
It will serve about 185 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $700 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $120
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Materials: $540
Thanks for reading all this.
Updates from Olga
Update from Odesa: the plan for materials is now scheduled. We're at 31% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
We're at 23% thanks to 5 of you. I made the first payment toward permits and inspections. More news soon.
