A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Mukono
Volunteers in Mukono are raising $500 for a community garden at the old Lotus bus depot.
🇺🇬 Mukono, Central Region, Uganda1,254 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Lotus bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $500.
It will serve about 430 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $500 goes:
• Materials: $390
• Permits and inspections: $30
• Safety equipment and signage: $15
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
Every share and every dollar helps.

Thinking of you, Namukasa. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Rooting for you. This could happen to any of us. Love from Mississauga.
Good luck. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I went through something like this 11 years ago and strangers helped me out. God bless
Praying for you, Namukasa. I hope things turn around soon. Greetings from Mukono
Thinking of you and your family, Namukasa. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Blessings.
