A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Móstoles

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $1,400. It will serve about 272 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,400 goes: • Materials: $800 • Safety equipment and signage: $230 • Tools hire and delivery: $370 Thanks for being kind about this. - Eduardo
