A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Marseille
Volunteers in Marseille are raising $1,400 for a community garden at the old Baobab bus depot.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Baobab bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,400.
It will serve about 347 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.

• Materials: $690
• Permits and inspections: $270
• Safety equipment and signage: $250
• Tools hire and delivery: $190
