A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Lahore
A community-led a community garden at the Baobab vacant lot that will serve 506 neighbors.
🇵🇰 Pakistan997 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $500.
It will serve about 506 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $500 goes:
• Materials: $410
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $30
• Tools hire and delivery: $15
With deep gratitude,
Mehwish

Keep going. Hope you get there. Love from Nottingham.
Keep going, Mehwish. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My neighbor in Fort Worth donated after I showed her your page. All the best.
You're not alone. Hope this works out for you. Greetings from Multan
