A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Kathmandu
A community-led a community garden at Unity Primary School that will serve 562 neighbors.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Unity Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $120, and the remaining cost is $100.
It will serve about 562 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $100 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $20
• Permits and inspections: $25
• Tools hire and delivery: $55
With deep gratitude,
Rabin
