For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $200. It will serve about 130 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $200 goes: • Materials: $120 • Tools hire and delivery: $60 • Permits and inspections: $20 If you're reading this, thank you.

So sorry you're going through this. More neighborhoods should do this. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Take care
