A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Dhaka
Volunteers in Dhaka are raising $300 for a community garden at Maple Primary School.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Maple Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 193 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $300 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $30
• Tools hire and delivery: $45
• Materials: $225
Thank you so much.

Take care, Sultana. Hope this works out for you. Don't give up. All the best.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Sultana.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. safety equipment and signage comes first ($30) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Let me know if you want more detail.
Sending love. Shared this with my family. My husband and I read this together. Love from London

Stay strong. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Greetings from Kampala.
