A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Da Nang
A community-led a community garden at the Jacaranda health centre yard that will serve 250 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $350.
It will serve about 250 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $350 goes:
• Materials: $180
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $75
• Tools hire and delivery: $50
