A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Coyoacán
Volunteers in Coyoacán are raising $1,100 for a community garden at the Liberty vacant lot.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,100.
It will serve about 160 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,100 goes:
• Materials: $740
• Permits and inspections: $120
• Safety equipment and signage: $95
• Tools hire and delivery: $145
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
