A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Accra
A community-led a community garden at the Baobab health centre yard that will serve 139 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 139 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $400 goes:
• Materials: $290
• Permits and inspections: $55
• Safety equipment and signage: $25
• Tools hire and delivery: $30
With deep gratitude,
Abena

Wishing you the best. I hope things turn around soon. Greetings from Los Angeles.
Sending good thoughts. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My husband and I read this together. God bless
Sending good thoughts. I hope things turn around soon. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
