For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $450. It will serve about 167 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $450 goes: • Tools hire and delivery: $35 • Permits and inspections: $35 • Materials: $380 Glad we found this place. - Anita
