A community fridge for the Jacaranda vacant lot: help our neighbors in Brisbane
Volunteers in Brisbane are raising $3,500 for a community fridge at the Jacaranda vacant lot.
🇦🇺 Queensland, Australia1,037 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,350, and the remaining cost is $3,500.
It will serve about 127 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,500 goes:
• Materials: $2,700
• Permits and inspections: $240
• Safety equipment and signage: $340
• Tools hire and delivery: $220
Glad we found this place.

Praying for you, Peyton. More neighborhoods should do this. Blessings.
Rooting for you, Peyton. Hope this works out for you. My neighbor in Hồ Chí Minh City donated after I showed her your page
I hope things turn around soon. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Brisbane!
