A community fridge for the Harmony health centre yard: help our neighbors in Pune
Volunteers in Pune are raising $400 for a community fridge at the Harmony health centre yard.
🇮🇳 Pune, Maharashtra, India1,682 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 556 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $400 goes:
• Materials: $230
• Permits and inspections: $50
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
• Tools hire and delivery: $55
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Best of luck, Venkat. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Greetings from Manchester.
How is Venkat doing now?
Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in social work myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Take care.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Venkat.
Sure. The biggest one is materials, $230. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Good question.
Keep going, Venkat. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'll check back for the next update. Thinking of Pune.
hope things get better soon, Venkat. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't give up. Love from San Francisco.
thinking of you and your family, Venkat. Great idea, hope you get there.
Is there anything that isn't money that would help Venkat?
Thank you. If you're in Pune I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Happy to explain more.
Thinking of you. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Greetings from Ho!
This could happen to any of us. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from Toledo
