A community fridge for Sycamore Primary School: help our neighbors in Kikuyu
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $400 for materials.
Anywhere in the world1,048 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Sycamore Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 183 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $400 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $20
• Materials: $290
• Safety equipment and signage: $90
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Rashidi
Sending good thoughts, Rashidi. Great idea, hope you get there.
So sorry you're going through this. This could happen to any of us. After 9 years in engineering I know how hard it's to ask for anything. God bless
Keep going, Rashidi. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust.
Sending good thoughts, Rashidi. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I'm in construction myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. All the best
