For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus community hall, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,800. It will serve about 120 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,800 goes: • Materials: $1,900 • Permits and inspections: $145 • Safety equipment and signage: $410 • Tools hire and delivery: $345 Glad we found this place. - Rosa

  • Sending strength. This could happen to any of us. After 30 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

    • Hope it all works out. I hope things turn around soon. I hope December is when things finally get easier
